intro

Orthodontic Treatment

Orthodontic treatment aims to align the teeth, correct chewing function, prevent tooth wear and joint problems, restoring not only oral health but also aesthetics and self-esteem.

At IDC.Clinic, we offer different orthodontic treatment options adapted to each patient’s needs and lifestyle: invisible aligners, a discreet, removable and comfortable solution; conventional braces with metal brackets effective for all types of corrections; and self-ligating braces, which provide faster and more comfortable treatment with less need for periodic adjustments.

Each treatment is planned rigorously and individually, allowing the orthodontist and the patient to choose the most suitable option and clearly and safely plan all stages of the process.

TREATMENT STAGES

Digital Study and Individual Planning

By creating models, intraoral and extraoral photos and radiological exams at the clinic, we carry out a personalized case study. This planning allows us to understand what is needed to achieve the desired result, the treatment duration, and visualize the final result using our software.

First Appointment – Braces or Aligners

For conventional or self-ligating braces, the brackets and arch are placed. This is a completely painless process that moves the teeth into the correct position.
For invisible aligners, attachments (which function like brackets in conventional orthodontics) and the first aligner are placed.

Follow-up Appointments

These are carried out to adjust the braces gradually to achieve the desired position.
With conventional or self-ligating braces, adjustments are made through changes to the arch, brackets and bends.
With invisible aligners, the fit of the current aligner is checked and the patient receives the next aligners.

Brace Removal

Once the desired result is achieved, the appliance is removed and an oral hygiene session is performed. Retainers are placed to maintain the results.
After 6 months, a retention follow-up is recommended to ensure the stability and long-term success of the treatment.

Faqs

Yes. Orthodontics is not exclusive to children or teenagers. Many adults seek braces to improve their smile and oral health.

It depends on the position of the wisdom teeth and the necessary dental movements for treatment success. The orthodontist will evaluate the need for extraction.

An impacted canine is a tooth within the bone that cannot erupt on its own. Traction is the external force used to move the tooth out of the bone and into the correct position.

Retainers stabilize the orthodontic movement, preventing the “memory effect,” where teeth tend to return to their original position. They are essential to ensure long-term treatment success.

It is made of transparent material and is almost imperceptible. Treatment consists of several aligners that gradually move the teeth by sequential changes throughout the treatment.

Only water should be consumed with aligners in place. Other foods or drinks may damage the material and compromise the treatment.

Aligners are usually changed every 10 days and must be worn for at least 20 hours per day.

Treatment duration varies depending on the case. Once your orthodontic case is planned, the total number of aligners is calculated and the treatment time can be estimated.
